I had my first signing today at The Nashville Exchange, an institution in my hometown. I had no idea what to expect, but I arrived 30 minutes early and folks were already there! I signed a lot of books and got to catch up with old friends as well as make some new ones. It was great fun and busy for the entire 2-hour block.
Not only was it encouraging to get support, it was uplifting to see so many readers. NO ONE asked about an electronic version – proving that print is not dead! It is hard to beat the smell of a new book (or honestly, an old one). That tactile feel is part of the experience.
Many thanks to all who came out and to The Nashville Exchange and The Nashville Graphic for sponsoring the event and doing it right. If the rest of my appearances go as well, this whole author thing is going to be more fun than I thought.
